Claire, our tester, was impressed by the packaging. It was simple to open and clean. She found it to be among the simplest and most efficient pieces of baby equipment to put together. She tested it on rough terrain and was impressed with its performance.

Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies are designed as single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accommodate a second seat with adapters. Certain models let you add an additional board for older kids who are ready to walk, but require a little help.

If you're looking for a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver, and it has a large basket that is full of storage. It can accommodate twins as young as birth and accept two car seats or seats and a carrycot. The seats are required to be facing forwards, and there's not enough space to store a bag of groceries underneath and you'll need a backpack for that.

If you're looking to travel off-road and off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good option. It's a side-byside model with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily adapted to take two (or three!) in a variety of configurations. This is particularly useful if you have a baby in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie, which permits the best lie-flat position. Or car seat adapters that fit a wide range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children are able to push it. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride since babies feel every bump on the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain, such as grass or unpaved roads. Certain models come with locking front tires to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled which are ideal for all-terrain riding, but they can be prone punctures. Be sure to keep an extra set of tyres in your trunk. Certain models come with foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they could be uncomfortable for your child if you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its paces with her newborn and 3 wheel pushchair sale years old son, and found it coped really well on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over bumpy pavements and grass cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles with ease and was easy to maneuver around corners and get up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, make it an extremely comfortable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a variety of features, including large seats with a padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection and easy-to-use and rechargeable lights.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can be folded up in a neat manner to be stored. There are options that fold flat and then stand up (as as if they were in a pushchair) as well as those that pop up to reveal a more umbrella-like fold that has the option of a brake operated by hand. The more wheels the buggy has, in general, the easier it is to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are bigger than the average size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will need to flip or tip your child.

The iCandy Wave is a popular option. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car seat from birth and then transformed into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is old. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model, which makes it easy to push, and it comes with extra features, including raincover and a bumper bar.

The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is a future-proof model as it's an excellent buggy, and can be modified to accommodate two (or three!) all within its compact footprint. It is a clever 3-wheel design with the sling seat to provide superior manoeuvrability, stability and kerb pop.

If you're looking to jog with your kids this is the ideal double buggies for jogging as it has a lockable swivel front wheel that can help you stay in control when you're tackling off-road or hilly tracks. It comes with a huge undercarriage, an adjustable handlebar, and a soft suspension that gives you an enjoyable ride.

This is a very lightweight and compact option that folds easily by one hand, making it great for travel. It's compatible with an extensive variety of infant car seats and has a handy pull-out undercarriage basket that can be used to stash items. It's a bit costly however, it does have certain distinctive features, like its one-click folding feature and a host of additional features, such as bumper bars or raincovers.

Stores

Many people are amazed by the capacity of storage offered by a triple-wheeled buggy. Certain models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket as well as two zip pockets on the hood where you can store your keys and phone. This allows you to have the best of both worlds.
